9214DGLFT General Description
The clock generator 9214DGLFT is a crucial component for supporting the Rambus XDRTM memory subsystem and Redwood logic interface. It is designed to provide 4 differential clock pairs in a compact 28-pin TSSOP package, making it an efficient and high-performance interface solution. The major components of the 9214 XDR Clock Generator include a PLL, a Bypass Multiplexer, and four differential output buffers, as illustrated in Figure 1. These components work together to receive and manipulate the reference clock to generate the necessary clock signals. The PLL utilizes a reference clock and a multiplier to produce the desired frequency, which can be adjusted using the multipliers selectable via the SMBus interface, as shown in Table 2. The differential output buffers then drive the enabled clocks, while disabled outputs are set to Hi-Z. Additionally, the Bypass mode allows for direct routing of the input clock to the output buffers, bypassing the PLL when necessary. Furthermore, the 9214 devices can be cascaded on the same SMBus for convenient control and addressing, as outlined in Table 3
