MCP3905LT-I/SS General Description
Introducing the MCP3905LT-I/SS, an advanced energy measurement IC that aligns with the international energy metering standard IEC 62053. This innovative device offers an output that includes a frequency proportional to the average active power at the inputs, as well as a higher frequency output for meter calibration. Equipped with two 16-bit delta-sigma ADCs and programmable gain up to 16, the MCP3905 enables the design of small shunt meters capable of measuring a wide range of Ib and Imax currents. Its on-chip voltage reference exhibits ultra-low temperature drift of 15 ppm per degree C, ensuring precise measurements in varying temperature conditions. The MCP3905 also incorporates a fixed-function DSP for active power calculation, making it well-suited for mechanical counter power meter designs. With a robust 15 mA drive current, this IC is engineered to minimize field failures and mechanical counter sticking, delivering dependable performance in demanding applications.
