SY89842UMG General Description

The SY89842U from Micrel stands out as a low jitter differential input multiplexer engineered to excel in redundant source switchover scenarios. Its distinctive 2:1 Runt Pulse Eliminator (RPE) MUX guarantees a smooth transition without short cycles or "runt" pulses, setting it apart from conventional multiplexers. Additionally, the SY89842U incorporates a Fail-Safe Input protection feature to prevent metastable conditions in case of a selected input clock failure, ensuring seamless operation. With Micrel's innovative 3-pin input termination architecture, interfacing with differential signals as small as 100mV is effortless, eliminating the need for additional level shifting or termination resistor networks. The output of the SY89842U is a stable 400mV CML signal with fast rise and fall times, making it well-suited for high-speed applications. Operating on a 2.5V ±5% or 3.3V ±10% supply, this multiplexer is designed to deliver reliable performance across a broad industrial temperature range from -40°C to +85°C
